One Whole Year

Today in honor of your  (ugh, it makes me tear up just tying it)  first birthday, Daddy and I wanted to start a tradition of sorts. We both want to write you a love letter.

Mommy's Letter:

Sweet Jackson,

One whole year. 365 days, I swear it seems half as long. I could not have imagined how much you would change our lives. How our goals and views would change. You have made us a family. Blessed us beyond our wildest imagination. When I held you for the first time you were the smallest baby I ever had in my arms. I was overcome with love, fear, excitement. I knew this would be the greatest adventure of Daddy and I's life. The first few months I will admit were overwhelming. You were so tiny, but we hit our stride and figured out what worked for us. You have been such an easy baby. So full of smiles and "that look". People tell us all the time the next one will be a doozy. I say we just make em' sweet ;) . I have prayed for you and your future. Sang songs, told stories, held you while you slept. You are the most amazing little man and Mommy loves you so much. I can not wait to see what is to come.

Hugs and Kisses,
Mommy

Daddy's Letter:

Jackson Rush W,

Where do I begin? Well I guess I'll start with your name. Your mom and I were on the same page with your name. We fell in love with Jackson ; a strong southern name. Rush ; something handed down. Your Great Grand Father and Papa 's middle names are Rush so I wanted to continue with the family name and we did so very proudly. Such a strong name. Jackson Rush. We had actually decided on your name 4-5 years before you were even born.
One year ago about 6am. I was rushing your mommy to the hospital. So many emotions... excited, anxious, nervous, scared. Had begun to take over. We didn't know if we were being blessed with a boy or a girl. We were soon to find out that Jackson Rush W (our beautiful baby boy) was finally here with us.
Watching you grow each and everyday has been the highlight of not only this past year, but the light of my life. Everyone brags about how good of a baby you are, and we can't go anywhere with out strangers telling us how beautiful you are, and guess what everyone also thinks you look like your dad! I could go on and on about how proud it makes me that you are my son. Jackson, always know that mommy and I love you more than life, and we pray to God everyday thanking him for blessing our family with your presence.
Today I am wishing you your first Happy Birthday wishes, with many more to come. I look forward to the blessings that God has planned for our family and I am looking forward to watching you grow into your own little person.

Happy Birthday
I love you,
Your #1 Fan.
Dad

So with that Happy Birthday Sweet Boy. We love you so much!

Our version of crawling... The Scoot.

Person.
Aw, he is so chunky, does he walk?
Me.
No, not yet he is just a chill baby.
Person.
Oh, so he crawls though right?
Me.
He Scoots.
Person.
(gives me puzzled, this mom is crazy her baby doesn't crawl and is this big look)
Oooh. Well I'm sure he will.

How many times a week do I have this conversation. I honestly would say once sometimes more a day. I am about to admit something on the interweb that some of you know, some would never guess. I did not walk until I was 26 months. Yes, 2 years and 2 months old. Is Jackson taking after his mom? Who knows, but the baby can scoot. He gets where he is going and he gets there fast. We finally caught him on the flip.
So enjoy my babies form of crawling 2 days before his birthday!

Oh what a Fabulous Friday! Picture Heavy!

That it was!
Seriously, a first birthday and a wedding between best friends provides for endless crafting opportunities. and the need to make some amazing candy.
Martha Stewart watch out.

We headed over to Grand Nanny's house today to make some "mock up" candy for
Nanny's wedding to use at Jackson's first birthday party.
Wow that was a mouthful did you get all of that?
Jackson's godmother Pam aka Nanny is getting married in September.
We are running through some things  now to work out colors and new flavors so we know just what she wants. After all she deserves nothing but, the best!
Since Jackson's birthday is next week (ECK!) her mom, Miss Mona aka Grand Nanny had us over for an impromptu candy making session. It was a blast, just look and see.

This is what I left the house with...
(come on, how cute is that)
My Sweet man ready for the day.
Um check out his Mohawk...
His Kitchen set up.
He was pretty happy with it.
CC excited about her first candy making experience.
We also made some "fire candy" with no fire.
For Bub's birthday we made "Grand Nanny's Tropical Crisp".
These are "Sour Creme mints" OMG Delish.
We were playing with the colors for Nanny's wedding.
Grand Nanny mixed up the perfect shade in the end!
Press and pop out. It's that easy.
Grand Nanny's mints. (Nanny is getting married on the beach!)
How cute is this star fish?
Still playing away.
It was time to eat and take a quick break.
Why I tied his shirt to his head like a bandana I have no idea,
but I thought it was so funny.
Grandma CC and Grand Nanny with their molds.
Tropical Crisp! It's watermelon and pineapple.
Jackson was so excited he fell asleep.
While the crisp cooled. We worked on some of Jackson's birthday decorations.
**Swoon**
Nanny figuring out her new circle cutter.
Lot's of laughter all day long.
Nanny breaking the crisp.
Boom Boom Pow with a spoon and...
How cute are these for the candy table at his party!
This is a sneak for the wedding. Nanny is putting these on the backs
of the chairs that will make the center isle. So pretty!
Again, Bub's was overwhelmed with how fabulous the day was.

So fun.

Wordless Wednesday

8 days and counting.

Oh Lord he loves the Harley.

Grandpa got a new bike. He and Nana rode down on Sunday afternoon for a visit. I thought for sure when he started the bike Bub's might startle. Um, No. He loved it. Busted out laughing and wanted Grandpa to hold him on the bike. Oh dear. At least I have a good 30 years before he can ride one right? Check out the pic's he had such a good time.

My baby loves Harley's and he isn't even a year old.

9 day's just in case you are keeping up.
